Liz's Pity Party
She woke up in a pool of sweat . . .her heart pounding. "Oh yes," she thought. "This is going to be a relaxing vacation."

When Andy worries about making ends meet, Liz reassures him that material things are meaningless and they have plenty of money to pay the bills.

Liz balances the budget. She handles the finances. She makes sure the bills are paid on time. She has it all laid out in a color-coded excel spreadsheet.

She keeps quiet about her 10k in credit card debt . . .her reliance on her credit line to keep them above water most months. She doesn't throw it in Andy's face that the reason her credit card debt is so high is because he quit his job in the worst economy they've ever experienced - while she was only working 30 hours a week because she was a full-time student . . .and had to support two people.

When her employees complain about their coworkers or their schedules or the work they have to do, Liz jumps through hoops trying to play peace-maker. She spends extra time every week creating a rotational job assignment list so that all jobs are equally distributed.

Liz spent 10 hours one Saturday creating an entire month's schedule - giving herself the Saturdays and Sundays when extra help was needed so none of the other full-timers had to work any weekends.

She covered every empty shift herself for two weeks when one of her best friends was fired, even though she was hit hard - not only from the shocking and emotionally draining loss of a friend, but also from a bad sinus infection. She listened patiently while others still had the balls to complain to her.

She listens quietly to the stories of her friends and family. Asking questions, letting them talk . . .When they ask how she is, she tells them she's great. She's fine. Same old stuff. Everything's going well. Meaningless. She doesn't think they can handle how she really feels. She doesn't think they want to know.

But Liz is drowning. She's so tired of being what she thinks other people want her to be. And she can't say what she wants . . .to literally save her life.
