Liz and Andy
Liz hated loud noises. Maybe because her father used to scream at the top of his lungs and bang things around when she was little. So when Andy would raise his voice or make sudden, ungodly shouts . . .she went into a rage.

On this particular day, Liz was driving. Trying to find parking at the County Fair on the night of the huge fireworks display would prove more challenging then Andy originally intended. This was his stomping ground. She was just along for the ride.

"Which way, now?" she asked.

He responded with more growl in his voice than she deemed necessary. "Which way do you THINK - Just look for a spot! I should have just driven myself!"

She couldn't hear him anymore. She was shutting down. "Shut UP," she yelled back. She imagines hitting him in the head with a hammer when he screams like that. Just to make it stop. It cuts through her veins and boils her blood.

They stopped in a quiet park at the top of a hill and decided to walk from there. She intentionally let him walk ahead and kept to the opposite side of the street.

"Come on," he begged. "Don't walk on the wrong side of the street. You'll get hit by a car!"

"Wouldn't that solve both our problems?" she retorted.

"I'm sorry," he said. And held out his hand. She took it.

They shared a funnel cake as the colors exploded right above their heads. Liz couldn't remember a time when fireworks looked so brilliant.

On the way home, they debated whether it was right to try people for war crimes decades after the fact. Liz said that morality and legality were seperate . . .and that it didn't matter if the event was right or wrong, as long as it was legal. Andy took the opposite argument. Human beings inherently sense right and wrong. And no matter what the government says to do - right is right and wrong is wrong.

They are opposites in everything - this Capricorn-Gemini pair. They will never come to an agreement. Probably not in a lifetime. Which they intend to spend together.

They were exhausted when they arrived home and headed straight to bed. Liz curled up in the crook of Andy's arm. There she drifted peacefully off to sleep. She loved him.
